The Philippines’ Department of Transport announced on its Facebook page today that starting July 1, all students including those in vocational schools can ride the MRT-3, LRT 2, and the Philippine National Railways (PNR) for free.

However, free train rides will only be available during select hours every day. There will also be no free rides on weekends and holidays. Students who are studying in graduate school for their masters’ and doctorate degrees will not be included in the scheme. LRT-1, which has several stops in Manila, Caloocan City, and Quezon City, will not be offering free rides.

Terminal fees in government-managed seaports and airports will also be waived for students. This includes the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City where many international and domestic flights arrive and depart from.
