A 16-year-old woman was allegedly raped by three men, including her own boyfriend, at a party in Nueva Ecija held over the weekend, the police announced on Monday.
The suspects were identified as Nathaniel de la Cruz, 19; Joseph Esguerra, 22; and Francis Ngacngac, 24, all of whom are residents of the town of Licab, an area that’s almost a three-hour drive from Manila.
Dela Cruz, the victim’s boyfriend, allegedly asked the victim out for dinner, but instead of bringing her to a restaurant, they proceeded to a house where Esguerra and Ngacngac were having drinks. The victim drank alcohol and when she became intoxicated, the suspects allegedly brought her to a room where they took turns raping her.
The victim repeatedly asked the suspects to stop, but her appeals were allegedly ignored. The teenager told her parents about the ordeal and they quickly filed a complaint at the police. The suspects are detained and facing rape charges.
The Philippine National Police attributed the suspects’ easy capture to the parents’ decision to immediately report the crime.
“Due to quick police reporting, we were able to locate and arrest the suspects promptly and the necessary police action was conducted,” said Brig. Gen. Valeriano de Leon, Central Luzon police regional director.
