A covered court at a Zamboanga City high school suddenly collapsed this morning, hurting at least nine students.

The incident happened at around 8:30am at the Sinubong National High School, GMA News reported. The victims were identified as Grade 7 and Grade 9 students, who were in the covered court for an English class, according to The Philippine Star. They were at the court because their classroom’s roof was leaking.

The students and their teacher ran away as the roof was falling but the nine students still sustained minor injuries and were rushed to the Labuan Public Hospital.

The structure was new and reportedly cost around PHP4 million (US$77,856.32) to build, according to ABS-CBN News.

Teachers think the roof collapsed because of the heavy rains, The Manila Bulletin reported, while City Engineer Christopher Navarro told The Philippine Star that it might have been because of faulty welded trusses.

Authorities are still investigating the incident.
