Spotted: NBA Raptor’s player Kyle Lowry sports ‘West Philippine Sea’ snapback

This is more than just a fashion statement.

NBA raptors player Kyle Lowry was spotted wearing a Philippine-made cap with the words “West Philippine Sea” during a TV interview following the Toronto Raptors’ 132-113 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Sat.

According to Indio Eyewear, the Pampanga-based company who made the product, the cap says a lot about the Scarborough Shoal and the competing territorial claims between China and the Philippines.

“I think this (has) a big impact for the Filipino people, especially the West Philippine Sea advocates,” said Indio Eyewear founder Hare Inaba on an article by ABS-CBN News.

“We are hoping that we inspire other local brands to speak out using their brand.”

The international exposure will help raise awareness about the cause.

We spotted the cap on Indio Eyewear’s Facebook page. Looks like a good buy for PHP900.
