This guy must have had one wild New Year’s Eve party.
A drunk Spanish man was arrested in Makati yesterday, New Year’s Day, after he allegedly broke someone’s car and attacked the security guard who tried to stop him.
Police identified the suspect as Jairo Ruiz Ibañez, a 36-year-old Spanish national residing in Purok 5 General Luna of the famous surfing town Siargao, Surigao del Norte, The Philippine Daily Inquirer reported.
Rappler reported that Ibañez is also a tenant at Makati Prime Tower Suites, where the incident occurred.
According to ABS-CBN News, a security guard identified as Allaniel Mayangak saw Ibañez in the act of breaking the window of a car owned by one of his neighbors at Makati Prime Tower Suites. This resident was identified as Ed Morales, Inquirer wrote.
The incident happened at around 5am, The Manila Bulletin reported.
His weapon of choice? His motorcycle helmet, apparently.
ABS-CBN News reported that Mayangak tried to stop the suspect but he was allegedly attacked too. Ibañez allegedly punched the security guard and threw a concrete block at him.
This prompted Mayangak to call Barangay (Village) Poblacion law enforcers for help in restraining the suspect, ABS-CBN News reported.
But Ibañez did not let up. According to ABS-CBN News, he tried to fight back before he was eventually arrested. He was brought to the Makati City Police Station, Inquirer reported.
He was reportedly drunk, The Manila Bulletin wrote.
“He was very drunk when he was surrendered to us,” Chief Insp. Gideon Ines Jr. of the Makati City police told the newspaper.
The suspect will face charges of malicious mischief, alarm and scandal, and assault at resisting arrest, ABS-CBN News wrote.
Not exactly the best way to start off 2019.
