At least 16 foreign nationals were arrested on Wednesday in a Makati City bar for allegedly drinking alcohol and ingesting meth— all done while being in close contact with each other.
Eleven of the allegedly erring foreigners were identified as Cameroonians: Cedric Fowetfeih Nhengafac, 30; Ndipagbor Rayuk, 39; Christian Menkami Youmbi, 35; Ashu Cederick, 34; Nintedem Feudjio Bertrand, 30; Mekoulou Christelle Clemence, 30; Bernadette Bareja, 34; Vitalys Ninjiwa, 43; Jacques Mboum Mbitock, 33; Hyacinthe Gabre, 38; and Ngami William, 29.

Also arrested with the group were Joseph Emmanuel Faure, 26, from Seychelles; Cristina Nkengasong Ngunyi, 25, and Ezeugwu Osita Linus, 36, both from Nigeria; Harry Teenesee, 45, from Liberia; and Saikou Omar Kujabi, 34, from the Gambia.
The group was caught inside D’Evolution Bar in the village of Poblacion after some residents complained that events were being held in the establishment which flouted social distancing rules. Seized from the suspects were bottles of beer and what was suspected to be meth.
The suspects will be charged for violating the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Concern Act and the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Makati City, like the rest of Metro Manila, is currently under the general community quarantine, which prohibits all forms of mass gatherings such as parties to prevent the spread of COVID-19. However, a high-ranking cop, Major General Debold Sinas, was caught celebrating his birthday with his men in several photos which went viral last month. Sinas is currently being investigated for the controversial incident.
