The “Magical Field of Lights” in Nuvali is supposed to be a fun Christmas attraction for families south of Metro Manila but people were alarmed after fake news stories about a woman dying from a snake bite while in the attraction circulated online this week.

Nuvali issued a statement on Wednesday and set the record straight. According to them, there was a snake bite incited on Nov. 20 but it’s not as serious as people were led to believe.

“For your information, there was one isolated incident and snake was NOT venomous. The girl was treated on site, taken to RITM (Research Institute for Tropical Medicine) for observation and released the next day,” Nuvali said in a statement.

Nuvali General Manager John Estacio told ABS-CBN News that the snake that bit the woman was a Philippine rat snake and said the serpent was caught after the incident.

He said the woman was admitted to the hospital as a precaution but RITM had assured the patient she was not in danger.

Following the incident, Estacio said Nuvali staff have already cut the grasses in the area to prevent a similar incident from happening again. He added that their personnel are also clearing the place every day before they open.

“We cut the grass, everyday before we start, we sweep it down, and we have 20 or more people clear the area to make sure there’s nothing wrong in the area,” he said.
