A man who allegedly tried trespassing a construction site was shot dead by a security guard at Barangay (Village) Sucat, Muntinlupa City earlier today.

The victim, identified as 26-year-old Edmund Bautista, died on the spot, ABS-CBN News reported.

Authorities said the incident happened around midnight. The investigation shows that the security guard, identified as Ryan Rodriguez, reportedly shot the victim after allegedly seeing him climb the construction site’s fence, GMA News’ Balitambayan reported.

Rodriguez then quickly fled the crime scene.

Some construction workers said that people often rob the construction site. They lose cellphones, allegedly because of the people living nearby, police said.

The victim’s father told GMA News that he had no idea why his son was at the construction site at midnight.

Authorities recovered the shotgun Rodriguez, the security guard, used. Police are still searching for him.
