According to the BBC, a Scottish man who was shot in Cebu last Friday in an attempted robbery, needs help paying for medical bills.

Tarek Naggar, 44, was outside a mall in Cebu when he was robbed by 3 men. One of the guys pulled out a gun and shot Naggar in the chest.

They took PHP500 (US$ 10) from Naggar the robbery before one of the men shot him.

His friends set up a GoFundMe page to ask the public for assistance in paying for Naggar’s hospital bills.

“Tarek’s fiancee was trying to call taxis but there was none stopping. I was on the floor with Tarek. He was conscious. After about 10 minutes or so a guy stopped in a rickshaw,” his best man Chris McLaughlin told BBC Scotland.

“The surgeon said the bullet went in the right side but ricocheted and travelled over to the left lung. Miraculously it didn’t go through his heart, it actually went behind his heart,” he added.

McLaughlin said Naggar is “recovering well” and is able to communicate.

The GoFundMe campaign aims to raise at least 10,000 British pounds. So far, they’ve been able to raise 2,398 pounds.
