A scammer has stolen the donations that were meant to pay for a sick man’s hospital bills, the local media reported yesterday.

Jayvee Buracan raised PHP15,000 (US$312) online in order to pay for the treatment of his father, Ernesto Buracan.

“We didn’t have enough money for our daily living expenses and for buying the medicines of my dad [so I had to raise money online],” Jayvee told 24 Oras.

The alleged scammer asked Jayvee for his personal details, under the pretense that the former was going to donate money.

“I didn’t think that something bad could happen to me, so I gave all my information because I really needed the money,” Jayvee said. “He fooled me.”

The Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group had already identified the scammer and vowed that they would go after the alleged criminal.
