Do we say, “Rest in peace”?
On the morning of Fri, Nov 18, Chief Superintendent Oscar Albayalde, head of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) confirmed that the remains of the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos would be buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani (Heroes’ Cemetery) on the same day.

Albayalde added that Marcos’ remains were transported via helicopter from Ilocos Norte.
Indeed, the burial was underway at the Libingan ng mga Bayani at around noon.
“Sources say the representatives of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) held a meeting about the burial on Thu night, Nov 17,, which stretched to the early morning. Some in the AFP thought that what would happen on Fri, Nov 18, was just a rehearsal, only realizing later on that it was not a rehearsal but the actual Marcos burial,” reports ABS-CBN correspondent Chiara Zambrano.
An ABS-CBN report recalls: “The Supreme Court on Nov 8 ruled that there was no basis to stop Marcos’ burial at the Libingan ng mga Bayani, which had been given the greenlight by President Rodrigo Duterte.”
Albayalde was quoted as telling dzMM: “Wala naman pong hininging specifics yung Marcos family. They want it it to be very very simple as much as possible yung maintenance lang ng peace and order.”
(“The Marcos family had no specific requests. They want it to be very very simple, as much as possible just maintenance of peace and order.”)
He added, “Iniiwasan nating may makapasok at babuyin ang puntod.”
(“We are preventing intruders who might vandalize the grave.”)
That said, the Marcos family members seem to have gotten their wish, as even the media was unaware that the burial would actually take place today.
