A puppy was apparently among those who survived a smash-up between a cement mixer and a car in Quezon City that left 1 person killed and 4 others hurt, its temporary caretaker said today.

The puppy was seen following one of the crash survivors as she walked away from the wreckage late yesterday, said jail officer Jen Ramirez, who is now taking care of the dog.

Ramirez was quoting reports from other rescuers on the scene. It was not clear if the dog was inside the car during the incident.

Rescuers, however, believe the dog belonged to the occupants of the vehicle after it followed one of the survivors, Ramirez told ABS-CBN News.

The victims of the crash were Ulysses Ramos, his wife Marife Ramos, and their three children. Marife and the children survived with injuries, but Ulysses was declared dead on arrival.

Ramirez said the dog can be claimed at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology office near the site of the accident.
