A policeman was killed on the spot by two unknown assailants in Barangay (village) San Pedro in Sorsogon yesterday.
ABS-CBN identified the policeman as Michael Villalobos, who was killed when he decided to go home in the middle of the workday.
When Villalobos was about to go back to the police station from his house, he reportedly discovered that his motorbike was having mechanical issues. He decided to drop by a repair shop where he was shot by the unknown gunmen.
Investigators suspect that the New People’s Army, the armed wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines, is behind the killing. They’re also studying the possibility that the crime was related to Villalobos’ work as an intelligence officer.
