Pinoy online gamers bag PHP40M in DotA tourney

Who says that spending time in front of the computer is a waste of time? Bet they’re not young millionaires like these guys.

A team of Filipino gamers took the top spot in the DoTA (Defense of The Ancients) 2 tournament in the World Electronics Sports Games 2016 in China last Sun.

The all-Filipino TNC(the net.com) Pro Team won a whopping USD800,000 cash price (PHP40M) after defeating Daish team Cloud 9 in the tournament

Even politicians recognized their triumph. Senator Bam Aquino and Vice President Leni Robredo sent them congratulatory messages.

The youngest member of the team is 18-year-old Marc Polo Luis Faust. The other members are Ryo Hasegawa, 24; Samson Solomon Enojosa Hidalgo, 22; Carlo Palad, 20; and Timothy John Radrup, 19.

According to a report by GMA News, the team wants to help change the image of eSports in the Philippines.

In spite their wealth, these kids are planning to go back to college. Only Hidalgo was able to earn a degree since most of the guys focused on training.

Their advice for other gamers? Stick to school. They said not everyone will be given a chance like theirs.

So kids, finish your homework first before heading to the neighborhood computer shop, yes?
