An eight-year-old kid from Davao City unwittingly bought PHP100,000 (US$2,080) worth of video games using his parents’ debit card early this month.
Yikes.
Entrepreneur Julmar Grace Locsin wrote about her son Tice Locsin’s big mistake (and we mean huge) in an online post that appeared last week. It was on Jan. 6 when she discovered from her bank statements that Tice bought 58 video games from the Google Play store using her husband’s cellphone.
“Hubby’s account is connected with Google Play because we sometimes rent good movies on YouTube. Hubby’s old phone with the Google Play app was handed to Tice last Christmas,” Julmar wrote on her post, which has been shared almost 8,000 times.

When Julmar learned about Tice’s purchase, she asked him why he bought so many mobile games.
“He explained that he thought the upgrades and downloads are all free,” Julmar told Coconuts Manila through chat.
As a consequence, Tice was spanked by his parents (ouch!).
“He cried a lot after we talked about it and forgave him. He was very sorry (and was too cute with those irresistible eyes). We explained that they are worth more than all the money in the world but following [the] rules is also a good life skill to abide [by],” Julmar wrote online.
Julmar has filed a claim to get a refund from Google, but as of writing, she has yet to receive any amount from the tech company.
