Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte was in Hong Kong late Saturday night with his long-time partner Honeylet Avancena and their daughter Kitty.

In a series of photos posted on Facebook by Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Christopher ‘Bong’ Go on the night of Oct 6th, Duterte appears to be dining and shopping in the Causeway Bay area.

Go writes, “Bago maunahan pa ng mga Fakenews [sic], kailangan din magpahinga ng Pangulo.” (Before fake news gets ahead of us, the President also needs to rest.)

Go even joked about Duterte’s choice of color while he was shopping for clothes.

Kahit panay ang batikos ng dilawan kay Tatay Digong, nagawa pa niyang pumili ng damit na kulay Yellow!!! (Even if the yellow camp keeps on criticizing [President Duterte], he still managed to choose a yellow shirt!!!)” jokes Go.

In a report by the South China Morning Post, Duterte is staying with his family at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Wan Chai, according to a “senior Hong Kong government source”. Security has been increased in the area.

“He and his family members will leave the city by Sunday evening. They came here for a holiday and will have no official events,” the source told SCMP.

Duterte’s family trip came just a few days after controversies about the state of his health surfaced. Duterte himself said in a speech on Thursday night that he spent an hour at the hospital for a check-up and some tests. According to reports, a “growth” has been found in the Commander-in-chief’s digestive tract.

“I will tell you if it’s cancer,” says Duterte in the same speech.
