A group of furry friends are looking for their forever home where they can live normal lives.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) has announced yesterday that 13 of their Narcotic Detection Dogs (NDDs) are now ready to find a “forever home.”

It says in the Facebook post that the dogs “have greatly helped PDEA in executing its duties to rid our country of illegal drugs. These dogs who are now retired, need a family and a forever home where they will be treated as HEROES and simply be dogs.”

PDEA shares each of the dogs’ personalities, with some being well-behaved, while others either shy or hyper. They also noted how well they interact with adults, children, and other pets.

The dogs up for adoption include a Golden Retriever, German Shepherd, Jack Russell Terrier, and Belgian Malinois among others. Their ages range from four to 12 years old.

Although the post didn’t give more details on where interested adopters should head to exactly, they did state a contact person people can reach out to. CNN Philippines reported that the process of the dogs’ adoption is at a first-come, first-serve basis wherein adopters have to fill up the necessary paperwork.

Netizens flocked to the post with over 12,000 likes and 16,000 shares. While generally everyone was tagging friends and family and urging each other to adopt, others noted that it’s good that these dogs are finally retiring.

Facebook user Dazo Cmblon Jay said in Filipino: “It’s just right that these dogs are retiring, they’ve helped enough already. It is their right to have a family and live as a dog that doesn’t have to work.”

Marvin King tagged a friend and said: “I don’t want to buy, [let’s] adopt instead.”

“Can we adopt? I want a hero dog,” wrote Stella Famorca.
