Earlier today, people were alarmed to see a suspicious-looking box in Tondo, Manila and feared that contained explosives.

The Philippine Daily Inquirer reported that the box was seen at around 8am along Limay cor. Hermosa Streets in Barangay (Village) 201.

The Manila Police District (MPD) anti-bomb squad responded to the area and went to check if there were indeed explosives inside the box.

What could have been a serious situation turned humorous, though, when the police opened the box and only found clothes inside.

Phew, false alarm!

The Inquirer report states that authorities believe that someone probably just left the box there and had no intentions of scaring the public.

It still did, though, probably because two schools in Manila received bomb threats last week. Those ended up being false alarms too as no explosives were found on either campus grounds.
