PAL plane bomb hoax: Fake threat written on disposable cup

Who would do such a thing?

The Philippine National Police (PNP) Aviation Security Group (AVSEGROUP) and the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) police were on alert early Thu morning, Oct 20 due to a possible bomb threat on a Philippine Airlines plane.

“A cabin crew of PAL flight PR 103 found a written threat inside the aircraft’s lavatory. The crew reported this to the pilot, and the AVSEGROUP got the information from the air control tower,” reports the Philippine News Agency.

It was later revealed in an ABS-CBN News Online report that the fake bomb threat was written on a styrofoam cup.

The bomb squad — composed of PNP-AVSEGROUP members and NAIA’s K9 unit — was quickly called in to check out PAL’s Boeing 777 plane, which had reportedly come from Los Angeles, California with flight PR 103.

The plane was declared cleared at around 7:09am after authorities throroughly checked the aircraft and all the luggage on the carrier.
