Typhoon “Dodong” is expected to bring heavy rains in Sorsogon where Mt. Bulusan is located.Alert level 1 is currently raised in areas near Mt. Bulusan after it erupted Tuesday evening, spewing ash 250 meters high.

State weather bureau PAGASA said rains may have both a positive and negative effect on residents in the area.

Sorsogon is currently under public storm warning signal number 1 due to Dodong.

Pag malakas yung ulan at madaming lahar, yun, danger nun,” she said.

PAGASA compared Dodong to Santi, which hit the Bicol province in 2013.

Thirteen people died in that typhoon and caused P3.2 billion worth of damages.

So preparedness pa din po ang ating factor diyan,” Cayanan said. —ANC
