A netizen has criticized a television show for hiring what he thinks is a fake musician.

On Monday, Andre Feria posted a video clip from the ABS-CBN show Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids, which shows a man playing the violin.

In his caption, Feria wrote a letter addressed to ABS-CBN, which went: “[H]ow hard is it to find an actual violinist to play this very simple passage when you literally have an orchestra under your name [thinking emoji]?”

Referring to the young man as kuya (a Filipino word used as a sign of respect), he added: “Kuya seems to be enjoying handling the bow like a light saber [finger emoji]. And did you notice that G chord on the fingerboard? I was taught the same thing during my guitar class lol.”

Feria’s observations didn’t end there. He wrote: “Lastly, I didn’t know violins could sound so perfectly without a bridge [clapping hands emoji].”

Watch the video and judge it for yourself.

Feria’s rant has gone viral since posting and has earned close to 1,000 shares as of today.

Some netizens thought his observations were spot-on, but others dished insults.

One of those who agreed with him was Nadine Baronia, who wrote: “There are a lot of super talented musicians playing on the streets or in super cramped bars and spaces, who have a hard time making a living for themselves and their families through music/arts. Then this is what you will show on national TV?”

She adds further: “To those saying it’s not a big deal, that’s insulting to musicians, promise. Do you want a fake engineer or doctor to do your house or take care of your [ill] parents? Have some sensitivity, please.”

Queenie Jordan commented on the video: “Nice try !!! Hahaha.”

Vernice Guevarra thought Feria was merely “insecure” of the young violinist and asked in Filipino, “Weren’t you given the chance to play?” that was followed by a devil’s horn emoji, two thumbs downs, and one laughing emoji.

Wrote Enzo Angeles: “You just notice everything [laughing emojis].”

Thinnakorn Ras wrote in Filipino: “Why don’t you play instead since you seem to be such a know-it-all.”
