NAIA airport temporarily shutdown for runway repairs

The Ninoy Aquino International Airport temporary closed its international runway for pothole repairs on Tuesday, limiting operations, its manager said.
The repair works, which started at 1 p.m., is expected to last for 4 hours, Manila International Airport Authority general manager Ed Monreal said.

Despite the closure, international flight operations will continue on a limited scale because the NAIA domestic runway can accommodate smaller aircraft, Monreal said.

“This pothole happened today in the course of flight operations. I ordered for an emergency repair disrupting our operations at this time of the day than wait for our daily runway closure after the last flight tonight,” Monreal said in a statement.

“I will never compromise safety of flights and passengers,” he added.

The public may call NAIA flight information through trunkline‎ 87711109 or hotline number ‎877-8888 loc 8144.
