The local government of Manila has announced the suspension of classes and work in city government offices on Tuesday, Nov 20, for the official visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

According to a report by GMA News Online, Manila City Mayor Joseph Estrada issued Executive Order 41 on Friday, Nov 16, after the Manila Police District recommended the suspension of classes and office work.

Xi will be visiting Malacañan Palace, the official residence of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte. The two are known to have formed a closer bond since Duterte was elected president in 2016.

The Chinese leader will also attend a wreath laying ceremony at the Jose Rizal monument in Luneta Park.

Both Malacañan Palace and Luneta Park are located in Manila, the country’s capital.
