A man climbed and fell off a transmission tower with a height equivalent to an 11-story building in Barangay (Village) Parara Sur, Tigbauan town in Iloilo province yesterday morning.

Panay News identified the man as Jomar Tagulalap who climbed a power transmission line owned by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) at 5:30am.

The report added that the 34-year-old tricycle driver hung on to the tower’s transmission cable line for about an hour before falling down.

Authorities attempted to rescue the victim up the tower but the rope was not long enough, Bombo Radyo stated.

Radyo Inquirer reported that the man fell on some hay and foam the rescuers had prepared.

He was rushed to the Guimbal District Hospital where he died due to his injuries at around 9am, according to the Tigbauan police.

GMA News reported that Tagulalap was suffering from a nervous breakdown.
