Why is Renalyn Macato so ubiquitous?
The Las Piñas resident first captured the public’s fascination last month when she appeared at the Manila Bay opening wearing a scarlet swimsuit. The stunt earned her the nickname “Dolomite Beauty,” a cheeky nod to the fact that the Bay’s faux white sand is made of crushed dolomite.

But the stay-at-home mother’s viral appearances didn’t end there. She was spotted late last week in the newly reopened Boracay, showing off her curves on the beach at around the same time that Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque visited the island. This led some suspicious Filipinos to ask: was Macato hired by the government to appear in these places?
Macato denied this accusation in an interview with Coconuts Manila via Facebook Messenger.
“That is not true. That’s why I posted on Facebook, saying thank you to the people who were with me [and paid for my trip]. They should check my Instagram. My ex-boss and I travel everywhere,” she said.
Macato said that it was her former boss who paid for everything: from her hotel to her swab test, and flights. They were supposed to arrive in Boracay on Oct. 1, the first day of its reopening, but their RT-PCR tests were declared too old and they were forced to postpone their trip a day after. All visitors to Boracay are required to present RT-PCR test results 48 to 72 hours before boarding.
“I only brought my beauty [to the island],” she joked. “But it’s exhausting, explaining [that the government didn’t hire me]. People just keep asking this.”
