Nobody wants to see trash floating on bodies of water but that’s exactly what this guy recently found in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.

Facebook user Connell Croft shared a now-viral post on Friday that shows a whole bunch of trash that looked like it came from a hospital.

“Hope Lapu-Lapu [City officials] could take action to this (sic) idiots disposing [of] used hospital/laboratory supplies,” Croft wrote in the post.

One of the photos includes a boy sitting next to a couple of syringes that were collected from the sea. Another shows diapers, surgical gloves, blood tubes, a basin, and other medical waste.

Another photo shows a yellow garbage bag which is usually used for clinical waste and could have been contaminated with potentially infectious blood or bodily fluids. The garbage bag’s contents, however, are still unknown.

A container labeled “Chong Hua Hospital,” one of the biggest hospitals in Cebu, was also seen in the images.

The official Facebook page of the private hospital released a statement on the incident on Sunday.

The hospital said that it outsources the disposal of all of its biohazard waste to the Davao City Environmental Care, Inc., a firm accredited by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

“Upon hearing the news, Chong Hua Hospital immediately initiated an investigation and will now work closely with DENR and other concerned government agencies,” it said.

“We intend to revisit our outsourcing processes and audit protocols to ensure the highest compliance to (sic) the DENR regulations and standards as well as [to] protect the safety and welfare of the general public and our environment.”

Croft’s viral Facebook post alarmed netizens and had over 900 likes and 5,400 shares as of this article’s posting.

Pam Delos Santos-Versoza wrote in a mix of English and Filipino: “[This is alarming]!!! That’s too much.”
