A fisherman was hospitalized for injuries after being attacked by two men using a swordfish.

Yes, a swordfish.

Jonathan Dela Cruz, a 49-year-old fisherman from the island of Jomalig in Quezon Province, was stabbed in the chest and hit on the head with a swordfish spear by his nephews.

According to the ABS-CBN News report on Saturday, Dela Cruz and his two nephews Rodel and Waldimar Lucero were on their way to go fishing for the day when they had an argument that led to physical confrontation.

The two suspects said the argument led to a fist fight and they had to defend themselves. They ended up using the spear of a swordfish to fend off their uncle.

However, authorities pointed out that the nephews’ story doesn’t match the results of the investigation because of a bite mark on Dela Cruz’s head.

Dela Cruz is currently recuperating at Quezon Medical Center, while the nephews are under the custody of the Jomalig Municipal Police. The family does not plan on filing charges against the suspects.
