The killings of local government officials continue.

The vice mayor of Balaoan in La Union province and his security escort were killed in an ambush today by unidentified suspects while they were traveling on the way to the city hall.

The vice mayor’s daughter, who is also the town’s mayor, was also in the ambush and remains in the hospital.

GMA News reported that Vice Mayor Alfred Concepcion and his daughter Mayor Aleli Concepcion were attacked by the suspects on Balaoan Luna-Road in Barangay (village) Kabuwaan in the town of Balaoan.

Alfred was killed, as well as his escort Mike Ulep, reported Rappler.

The Concepcions were on board a Toyota Innova van and a Hyundai Starex van when the ambush occurred at 8:10am, reported Manila Bulletin.

Ulep was killed immediately.

The Concepcions were rushed to the Balaoan District Hospital then were later transferred to Lorma Medical Center where Alfred died.
