Jeff Horn’s camp caught Manny Pacquiao texting on his cellphone during the final press conference on Wednesday for the “Battle on Brisbane” this weekend.
And Horn and company were not happy about it.
The Aussie challenger said he thinks the gesture is an indication that the world welterweight champion isn’t taking him seriously.
“It definitely shows a bit of ‘he doesn’t care’ attitude to the fight,” Horn said in a story posted on Fox Sports Australia.
“Maybe we’ll see he hasn’t put in all the hard work they say he has.”
Horn’s promoter, Duco Events’ Dean Lonergan, called Pacquiao a “world champion texter.”
“I’ve attended four press conferences with Manny, he never gets off his bloody phone,” Lonergan said. “I hope you take the phone into the ring and she’ll be game over.”
Horn said that it would have been different if Pacquiao is fighting Floyd Mayweather again. “I don’t know if it’s arrogance; I’m just used to that now,” Horn said.
“It gave me a laugh when Dean called him out on it, it was hilarious,” Horn added.
But Pacquiao said he did not mean to disrespect Horn.
“I’m just writing my speech to mention the people, to thank them,” he said in a YouTube video posted by Fight Hype.
