The Bureau of Immigration (BI) announced today that it will deport a British sex offender after receiving word from UK authorities that he was grooming potential victims in the Philippines.

In a statement on its Facebook page, the BI said 58-year-old Kevin Victor Ryder was arrested from Angeles City, Pampanga on Feb. 14 by their agents. Ryder, a businessman, was arrested in the United Kingdom in 2006 for possessing child pornography and was a registered sex offender there for five years.  In 2010, Ryder was also arrested in Pattaya, Thailand for allegedly molesting children.

BI chief Jaime Morente said, “We received a request for the UK authorities that he be arrested and deported due to reports that he was grooming a 12-year-old girl in the Philippines.”

“We will immediately deport him not only because he is an overstaying alien but because his continued presence here poses a serious threat to our Filipino children,” he added.

Ryder will now be blacklisted from the Philippines so that he can no longer enter the country.

He is currently detained at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City, where he will stay until he is deported.
