Honest cabbie rewarded with a job offer in AUS and scholarships for his kids

Sometimes the reward for honesty is an intangible, altruistic feeling, but this time, it’s that and more.

An honest cab driver from Baguio who returned about PHP1-million worth of valuables left by his passenger in his cab, was offered a job in Australia and scholarships for his kids.

According to the Philippine Daily Inquirer, 30-year-old Reggie Cabututan, “was surprised by the gesture of the owners of the Calle Uno building” where he dropped the Australian businessman Trent Shields.

(Update: According to ABS-CBN News, the Australian firm mentioned is Vivixx Academy. Ace Estrada II, the company’s president, awarded Cabututan a scholarship to attend the six-month Coding Boot Camp in June 2017. Completing the scholarship guarantees a job in Australia.)

“All I did was go back and return [Shields’] belongings when I realized he left them in the back seat of the taxi cab,” Cabututan said in the report.

The honest cabbie lives in La Union and travels to Baguio to work.

As of writing, there is still no word if Cabututan accepted the job offer. Well, whatever’s your decision, you deserve all the good karma, sir!
