We guess 2015 will be known as the year the Philippines became a weapons capital. With bullets flooding the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and elderly women getting caught transporting guns, is it really still a surprise to find out that firearms and ammunition have again been uncovered in another raid conducted at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City?

“Personnel from the Bureau of Corrections, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) found various firearms and ammunition in another raid conducted at the NBP on Wednesday morning, November 4,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.

Aside from various ammunition and firearms, some of which were stashed beneath a concrete floor,  they also found sachets of shabu, Swiss knives, scissors, improvised bladed weapons, and metal pipes. Some cellphones, which are prohibited to prisoners, were also seized.

The raid was conducted following a fresh wave of violence inside the national penitentiary.
