A doctor identified as Avelex Amor was shot dead yesterday morning by unidentified suspects in Guihulngan City in Negros Oriental.

Amor, the chief medical doctor of the government-owned Canlaon District Hospital, was driving on the way to Dumaguete City with a companion when he decided to stop at Barangay (village) Basak to urinate, reported the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

One of the suspects approached Amor’s car that was parked on the side of the road then shot him multiple times. The gunman fled on a motorcycle driven by another unidentified suspect, reported Abante Tonite.

The victim was brought to Guihulngan District Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. Four shells of a .45-caliber pistol were recovered from the scene of the crime.

The police remain unaware of the motives behind the killing, reported ABS-CBN News.
