Former gas boy wins Misters of Filipinas pageant 2016

Looks aren’t everything, but let’s admit it, it can take you places.

CJ Querol, who earlier this year became a viral sensation because of his modelesque features, will represent the Philippines in the Singapore-based pageant Manhunt International after earning one of six spots in the Misters of Filipinas competition held last week.

The 29-year old from Bulacan became popular after he was “discovered” by a netizen who took his picture while pumping gas along Edsa.

He then started being featured in talk shows and newspapers. He also became a brand ambassador for SeaOil, the gas station where he had worked for six years.

Prior to becoming a gasoline attendant, Querol had worked in a computer shop and as a tricycle driver to make ends meet. He plans to continue his studies as soon he has the budget for it, Rappler reports.

“I didn’t expect to be one of the titleholders, so I really can’t explain what I felt that night to this day, because I really can’t believe that I won,” he said in Filipino.

Querol said that he wants to bulk up and practice for the question and answer portion for his upcoming Singapore pageant.
