FitBit Charge 2 is now in the PH, so should you get it?

We all know that the good ol’ watch has evolved into something more than just a tool for telling time. Well, fitness junkies will be happy to know that Fitbit just released the Charge 2, a workout buddy that’s not just for runners.

Is it worth buying? Only if you put in some effort.

Like the previous models, Charge 2 monitors sleep and heart rate. Those who are just starting out an exercise routine or employees who spend a lot of time in front of the computer will appreciate the “hourly move reminders” that push the user to get moving every so often. It’s smartphone ready and may be wirelessly synced with most phones. Plus it can also serve as a silent, vibrating alarm.

Since most fitness trackers are geared for runners and cyclists, an important feature of the Charge 2 is the multi-sport mode, which tracks other exercises like yoga, martial arts, and pilates. Because, yes, not everyone enjoys training for marathons.

The watch feels a bit chunky, especially for those who are not used to wearing fitness trackers, but the larger screen displays information conveniently. It just needs a bit of getting used to.

Tip: It’s easier to keep your eyes on the prize when progress can be monitored, measured and compared, but you’ll only get the results you want if you keep on moving.

If you’re just looking for wrist candy, then take your money elsewhere. Plus if you’re unwillling to learn about how to efficiently use the app (which is easy to use anyway), then you’re probably better off with a much simpler fitness tracker.

Given its features, the Fitbit Charge 2 probably best suits someone who is REALLY focused on monitoring fitness goals. If tracking the whole day is something good for your motivation, then Charge 2 is your new friend.

Fitness Charge 2 is available in major retailers for PHP8,499. The bands are available in black, blue, plum, or teal.
