Four people were seriously injured after a ferry and a barge collided in Cebu Saturday.

The incident happened past ten in the evening. The MV St. Braquiel ferry of 2GO Shipping was about to cross the Mactan Channel in Lapu-Lapu City when it collided with a barge.

The barge reportedly did not have any lights or early warning device to make other vessels aware of its presence.

The collision was so strong that it injured most of the passengers aboard the ferry.

Forty eight passengers had minor injuries and were given first aid before they were brought to Cebu City Medical Center and Vicente Memorial Medical Center for further tests.

Ferry Captain Reniero Maurin was also included in the injured list.

MV St. Braquiel was ten minutes away from Pier 4 in Cebu City when the incident happened. The ferry had 90 passengers when it left Ormoc City 7:55 Saturday evening.

No one was recorded dead or missing. Investigation is still ongoing on the cause of the collision.
