This dad set the bar high for his three daughters’ future suitors.
Facebook user Chi Martillo shared a now-viral post yesterday showing how he surprised his three daughters on Valentine’s Day with flowers at the Capitol Hills Christian School in Batasan Hills, Quezon City.
Martillo told Coconuts Manila through a Facebook message that his daughters are 16-year-old Nikki, Grade 10; 14-year-old Chelsea, Grade 8; and 12-year-old Chynna, Grade 6.
Martillo said in his caption that he hoped he made their day and judging from their faces, he really did:
He told Coconuts that it was his wife’s idea to surprise their daughters. He added they made it a point to surprise their kids every chance they get.
He said he and his wife had to skip work for a bit during their lunch break to get the flowers in the Greenhills Shopping Center in San Juan City. Then they drove to their daughters’ school to surprise them.
“We went directly to their classrooms. They were in awe and couldn’t say a word. Chelsea and Chynna cried. They all appreciated the gesture,” he added.
The couple believes that if they shower their daughters with gifts, especially ones coming from their Dad (aka their first Valentine), they will not be easily swayed by gifts from suitors. “Instead, look at a guy’s character,” he added.
“I also wrote letters to them, tailor-fit to their individual characters and strengths,” he said.
“[I] [h]ad to print it though so they can easily read it. My penmanship is ugly,” he joked.
The Facebook post has garnered 1,200 likes and 110 shares as of this article’s posting. Netizens thought the gesture was sweet.
