Fake lawyer arrested in Caloocan City court

Some people have the nerve to pretend to be something they’re not.

One such individual is Joaquin Lorenzo Misa Jr, a 64-year-old Cubao resident who had been practicing law for the past 30 years with an office in Pasig City.

Another lawyer named Roderick Manzano had suspected that there was something fishy about Misa’s credentials, so he went and did his own investigation.

“Manzano’s suspicions were confirmed, as he was able to get a certification from the Office of the Bar Confidant of the Supreme Court revealing that Misa is not a member of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines,” reports Jodee A. Agoncillo in Philippine Daily Inquirer.

After he had enough evidence against Misa, Manzano then alerted the Caloocan police, where the fake lawyer was defending a rape suspect.

The report noted: “Misa was arrested by the police officers who were on court duty at the Metropolitan Trial Court-Branch 84 at the North Caloocan Judicial Complex.”

Misa reportedly put up quite a fight when he was being arrested.

He yelled, “What are you doing? Are you stupid? Why are you arresting me? I will sue all of you and have you dismissed. Don’t you know I’m a lawyer?”

Misa is now detained at the detention at the Caloocan police headquarters. He has been charged for falsification of public documents and resisting arrest.
