Former Philippine President and current Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada rode a boat made of about 500 empty plastic bottles and recycled wood yesterday to launch “Bangkaan ni ERAP”.
In this case, ERAP stands for Emergency Response and Assistance Preparedness. Who says EPAL isn’t alive and kicking in the capital city?
The project is the brainchild of the Youth and Development Office, which just turned 28, and is part of the 10-point agenda of Estrada.
The boats can be used in rescue operations during typhoons and flooding.
A PHP20,000 grand prize was up for grabs in this boat-making competition where 12 teams from Manila’s six districts participated.
