A domestic worker was arrested on Saturday after she allegedly tried to kill her elderly employer of just three weeks with mothballs.

Suspect Garnet Gallardo, 35, is facing charges of attempted murder for allegedly trying to poison Remedios Gimena, 76, at her home in the village of Putatan in Muntinlupa City.

The alleged crime occurred just three weeks after the victim hired Gallardo after they met online on a Facebook group.

Gimena told TV news program Stand for Truth that she felt dizzy after drinking several cups of her liquid food supplement on Friday. The elderly woman didn’t become suspicious until she drank more of the supplement the following morning. It was then that she noticed the liquid had a strange smell and taste, which led her to check the contents of the bottle. And this is where it gets weird.

The victim alleged that she found three mothballs inside the bottle, according Balita. After telling her husband of her discovery, Gimena called Gallardo, who then — rather easily — confessed that it was she who inserted the mothballs. Gimena’s husband then reported her to the Muntinlupa City police.

According to the police report, Gallardo said she didn’t intend to kill her boss but merely wanted her to get sick as punishment for being mean to her, reported Abante Tonite.

However, in her interview with Stand for Truth, Gallardo denied committing the crime altogether.

Gimena vowed that she will pursue the case and does not plan to forgive her former employee for what she had allegedly done.
