While this weekend’s royal nuptials between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle was all anyone could talk about on Twitter, another wedding was catching the attention of Filipino netizens last week.

Felma Masaring’s wedding went viral after a photo of her and her father driving her to the St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur, where the ceremony was to be held, was posted on Facebook by user Kaycee Pitao Jose.

Instead of just walking her daughter down the aisle a la Markle’s stepdad Prince Charles, Felma’s father Carlos drove the sidecar himself.

Now that’s love.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Carlos said that their family had trouble finding a bridal car they could afford, which is why they went for the sidecar instead.

Most bridezillas would have been worried about getting their hair and makeup ruined under the hot summer sun, but Felma and her father were all smiles during the ride, a moment that touched netizens.

Facebook users Alleya Jen Bagayo Magsalay and  Anahj Cherry Tree praised the bride for her simplicity, noting that riding sidecar was better than borrowing money and incurring debt for a fancy wedding.

User Jen Simon even said that she was inspired to do the same thing for her own wedding.

The Facebook post now has 15,000 reactions and close to 10,000 shares.

After the ceremony, the same sidecar was used by the newly married couple to go back to Felma’s home, where an intimate reception was held.

In the age of lavish “prenup” photo shoots and highly produced wedding videos, this wedding was as refreshing as a ride in the countryside — sidecar-style of course.
