Who knew that every lazy elementary school student’s favorite “I have a tummy ache” excuse could get someone out of jail too?

In what might be one of the silliest — but surprisingly effective — jailbreak plots in a while, drug suspect Sherwin Rodriguez managed to escape from his jail cell in Binangonan, Rizal yesterday after pretending to experience stomach painsPilipino Star Ngayon reported.

According to the Rizal Police Provincial Office, the great escape happened at around 3:43am as police were rushing Rodriguez to the Margarito Duavit Hospital. On the way there, the inmate reportedly pushed his custodial officer and ran away.

Well, that was easy.

Police escorts tried to run after him but to no avail.

Rodriguez was in jail for allegedly violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Police have launched a search to put him behind bars once again.

Think he’ll manage to escape a second time?
