Somewhere in the distance is a Filipino mother saying in Tagalog: “Kaka-computer mo yan! (That’s because you’re using the computer too much).”

A Defense of the Ancient (Dota) player stabbed a computer shop caretaker in Navotas City yesterday, all because he wasn’t allowed to play his favorite computer game.

The suspect was identified as Emilio Ruiz, 31, while the victim was identified as Jerry Eloy Soriano, 38. Both are residents of Barangay (Village) Daanghari, Abante Tonite reported.

A police investigation revealed that Ruiz went to the computer shop located in Block 40, Lot 2, at Tabing-Dagat, Daanghari at around 12:10am wanting to play the popular online game, Journal Online reported.

Soriano refused to let Ruiz play because it was already late, the shop was closing, and he would be the only customer in the shop, Pilipino Star Ngayon reported. This sparked a heated argument between the two.

Ruiz allegedly brandished an 11-inch knife at the height of the altercation and stabbed Soriano repeatedly.

The victim, although wounded, was able to run to the police for help. He was then rushed to the Tondo Medical Center.

Ruiz was arrested by cops in a follow-up operation, Abante Tonite added.

He will face charges of frustrated homicide before the Navotas City Prosecutor’s Office.
