The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has announced that that fully vaccinated economic frontliners (A4) will be eligible to receive one of 2,000 bicycle-and-cellphone packages under the BakSikleta program in July 2021.
Meant to encourage workers to complete their inoculations against Covid-19 and to act as a livelihood program. “Those workers under the A4 category who have fully received the vaccines will be given a free bicycle, which the beneficiary can use to start his/her business. It also comes with a cellphone with PHP5,000 worth of load. That is your reward if you show us that you already received two doses of the vaccine starting July 1,” Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello said.
Bello said that 1,000 bicycles are allotted to the National Capital Region (NCR), and another 1,000 will be distributed to its regional offices nationwide. The packages come with a helmet, raincoat, water bottle, thermal bag, and Android mobile phone with PHP5,000 worth of e-cash.
DOLE has yet to announce the full mechanics, but those who would like to apply for the program can watch for announcements on the Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns (BWSC) website or call the DOLE hotline at 1349.
