DFA reports 147 new Covid-19 cases among Filipinos abroad over the past week

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) put out one advisory covering the week of 12-19 July 2021, reporting that there have been a total of 147 new Covid-19 cases among Filipinos abroad. This brings the total to 21,090,  with 7,399 active cases.

The Covid-19 cases have come in from two new countries and territories. The DFA has not released any details, but these appear to be in the Middle East or Africa.

The total number of overseas Filipinos who have died from the virus is at 1,261, with 12,439 patients having recovered so far.

Also over the weekend, a special DFA chartered flight arrived in Davao City from Dhaka, Bangladesh carrying 150 OFWs who had been adversely affected by the pandemic. So far, over 4,000 Filipinos have been brought home since the beginning of the pandemic on these free flights.
