Delta variant is found in 13 out of 17 regions in the Philippines, as Covid-19 cases rise across all age groups

The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday released data that local cases of the Delta variant have been found in 13 regions of the Philippines, even as Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire clarified that there has been an overall increase in Covid-19 cases across all age groups.

The regions where local versions of the Delta variant have been found include the National Capital Region (NCR) with 146 cases, Calabarzon (47), Central Luzon (39), Eastern Visayas (37), Central Visayas (36), Northern Mindanao (22), Western Visayas (11), Ilocos Region (5 cases),  the Zamboanga Peninsula (3), the Davao Region (6), Cagayan Valley (1), the Bicol Region (1), , the Cordillera Administrative Region (1).

“We understand the concerns and fears of our countrymen about the news that Covid-19 cases have increased among children. But we wish to clarify that this increase is being felt across all [age] groups and not just in children,” said Vergeire in a press release.

The DOH reminded the public to get vaccinated as soon as they are eligible.
