A dead baby girl was found inside a plastic bag floating on a river in Barangay (Village) Tugos in Paracale, Camarines Norte province yesterday morning.

Not much is known about where the baby came from but the resident who found the plastic bag believes she was a newborn, ABS-CBN News reported.

The body was immediately brought to the barangay hall; authorities were also alerted of the incident, the report added.

These incidents don’t occur every day, but they happen one too many times here in the Philippines.

In May, a baby survived after being left at a dumpsite inside a plastic bag in Mandaue City, Cebu. In June, a newborn baby was abandoned near a Jollibee branch in Cavite, but thankfully, the child was attended to by the fast-food crew. From there, the Department of Social Welfare and Development took custody of the baby.
