A couple was arrested in Sampaloc, Manila for allegedly posing as board members of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), the media reported today.
Armi Liguid and her husband Mario Liguid would allegedly ask their victims for money, and, in exchange, would promise them that they would be able to pass the PRC exams. The PRC is responsible for giving licensure exams to prospective doctors, nurses, and other professionals.

The couple would ask for as much as PHP50,000 (US$1,044) from their victims. The duo would use fake names when carrying out their modus.
“Based on the IDs we recovered, they used different names. At least two to three names. They would wait for their victims, those who are going to take their board exams or those who have taken it, they would promise them that they would pass the exams and ask for a fee,” Joseph Villafranca, chief of the Investigation Section of Manila Police District Station 4 told the news program Unang Hirit.
“We’ve contacted their victims from different places. Some are from Capiz, some from Zamboanga,” he added.
The couple was caught after an anonymous informant told the police about their modus.
