So, what does actor-turned-public-servant Cesar Montano have to say regarding the complaints filed by “frustrated” tourism employees against him? The claims were “baseless and untrue,” he said.

“No one knows who is behind this and the said ‘TPB employees’ who filed the complaint have neither come forward or presented any evidence to substantiate claims,” Montano said in a report by Rappler.

Employees of the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB)  listed 24 questionable acts and decisions made by Montano since his appointment as TPB COO by President Rodrigo Duterte in December 2016.

According to ABS-CBN News, Montano is accused of entering “questionable contracts” worth millions, hiring relatives and friends, using funds for personal travels and also incompetence and unprofessional behavior.

Included in the accusations is an alleged PHP12 million sponsorship of an overseas concert of celebrities Nadine Lustre and James Reid. Viva Communications Inc clarified that all they have now is a proposal.

“Without proof, anyone can easily fabricate stories with the sole purpose of destroying the credibility of the agency and this administration,” Montano said.

After vehemently denying the accusations, Montano said that his office will continue serving the public.

“Despite setbacks and political backlash, this office will continue to serve our countrymen and we thank everyone for their continued support,” he said.
