Arrested: 66-year-old woman tagged as Caloocan City’s ‘drug queen’

When it comes to the illegal drug trade, we don’t usually encounter female crime bosses. But that’s exactly what 66-year-old Edna Morales is being accused of being. In fact, Caloocan City cops have tagged her as the area’s “drug queen.”

Morales has reportedly been arrested for drug-related charges before but she allegedly managed to bribe her way out of them. Last Fri night, Jun 10, her luck finally ran out, as she was arrested when she went to Caloocan’s Police Community Precinct 1 and tried to bribe policemen who arrested a suspected pusher who is presumably part of her network.

“Morales was caught in the act of ‘negotiating’ for the release of Vanessa Marcos, who was earlier arrested while allegedly selling shabu, also known as methamphetamine hydrochloride,” reports Rey Galupo in The Philippine Star.

According to Senior Superintendent Bartolome Bustamante, city police chief, Morales “offered PHP100,000 for the police officers to release Marcos.” Then, when the cops handcuffed and frisked Morales, they found a sachet that contained 5.8 grams of shabu.

The report noted: “Morales is reportedly the biggest shabu supplier in Barangay Bagong Barrio, where she resides, and nearby barangays. She is said to get her supply from a certain ‘Jovan’ in Quezon City and an unnamed source from Bulacan.”

For her part, Morales denied the allegations against her.
